Filmmaker Muzaffar Ali is likely to re-shoot the ending of the classic

Sensing the gold rush for his classic, Muzaffar Ali, the director of the 1981 film Umrao Jaan has decided to reshoot the ending and add two scenes to the film, say sources. For the new version, rumours are rife that Ali will amend the original ending.

Umrao Jaan ends with Rekha''s character Umrao staring into a mirror, long after she has been deserted by Farooque Shaikh and her assorted number of lovers. The new ending will depict a 25-years-after meeting between the two, with the Nawab (Farooque Shaikh) finally freeing Umrao from his memories and the association. This decision to reshoot the end comes in the wake of two new versions of Umrao Jaan being kick-started with JP Dutta to helm one of the projects. When contacted by BT, Director Muzzafar Ali chose not to comment on either the new versions being made by either directors or his own plans to reshoot Umrao Jaan''s ending.

Priyanka Chopra will play the lead role in this re-tooled version.
